West Bengal govt hands over LoI to Adani Ports for Tajpur port

West Bengal government on Wednesday handed over Letter of Intent (LOI) to Adani Ports for Tajpur port in Bengal in Kolkata on Wednesday.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee handed over the LOI to Karan Adani, CEO of Adani Ports today evening. The port would entail an investment of Rs 15,000 crore, the state government said.

“Following the technical and financial evaluation and completion of all formalities, the Bengal Cabinet accorded approval for Issuance of Letter of Intent by West Bengal Maritime Board for development of the Tajpur Port to the successful bidder,” Nabanna, state secretariat sources said. “The port would entail an investment of Rs 15,000 Crore. The related port led infrastructure development would involve another Rs. 10,000 crore. Overall, the project would involve an investment of Rs 25,000 crores. It would create 25 thousand jobs directly besides indirect jobs which would touch one lakh,” the state government said in a statement.
