A new Ro-Ro service connecting Willingdon Insland and Bolgatty is expected to start soon. Kerala State Inland Navigation Corp. will be managing the vessels which will be transporting container laden trucks in the first phase. Later on other vehicles will also be transported.
Trucks transporting containers to southern parts of the state from International Container Transshipment Terminal at Vallarpadam can use the short cut without entering the busy city roads.
There has also been demand for extending the Ro-Ro service plying in the Fort Kochi-Vypeen section on a 24X7 basis.
